my feels right now.. Jinora is definitely one of my favorite Avatar/Korra characters ♥

I’m still not sure I completely buy their canon older designs (Like, Aang’s nose? Really?) but, oh well!
Lana Cosplay by smzeldarules
Hey all, it’s Sarah, aka smzeldarules / SMZR, a cosplayer from Buffalo, NY!
I plan to attend PAX East in Boston, MA in March and recently received some super cool products from Costume SuperCenter to help me out with my planned costume! I recently have been cosplaying as Lana from the new Zelda game Hyrule Warriors because I fell in love with her design. And when I saw the scrapped design for a female Link (possibly his sister, named Rinkuru/Linkle) I fell in love with that design too, so I just have to make it!
I truly think that ordering things from stores or online definitely does not make one less of a cosplayer. When I’m uncomfortable making things completely from scratch, there is always the option of buying things and altering them to fit more of what you need! This is why I wanted to try out the CSC Women’s Steampunk thigh high boot covers and the Steampunk long brown gloves. I also decided to get the Blond Elf Warrior wig as well to try!
The brown gloves will have to be altered to fit the Linkle design more, however I was extremely pleased with how they are made. The black lace and yellow buttons on the sides really accentuate the silky brown fabric, creating a slightly elegant feel. Since Zelda games are essentially in the medieval time period, this type of glove is perfect. I plan on just simply rolling the ends up a bit to match Linkle’s gloves, but still showing a bit of that black lace for a nice touch.
The boot covers are actually not what I expected – but that’s not to say it’s a bad thing! I thoroughly enjoy the fabric for both the faux-suede riding up throughout, and the black pleather running up the back where the ties are, as well as a small patch at the front. I definitely don’t mind the ties at all – considering these are a one-size-fits-all type product. However what I was mostly concerned about was the fact that when I moved around in them, they fell down on my legs no matter how tight I tied the top. Since the black string is actually way longer than my leg length (I’m only 4’11’’ after all…) on both covers, I plan to have some type of latch or hole in parts of my skirt so I can tie the strings to them, keeping them sturdy and safe from falling down! I truly do like the style of the boot covers; even though they are not exactly like the Linkle design, I can still make them work – plus, they also look like they are from the medieval times which is perfect for this cosplay as well. That’s all that really matters!
Finally, I also decided too get the Blond Elf Warrior Wig. This type of wig is obviously essential for any Link or Female Link cosplay! That is.. if you want to be blonde of course. I’m very picky when it comes to wigs since I cannot style them for the life of me, so I try to get them as accurate as possible so I don’t have to do too much. Obviously for this wig I will have to make the little red-orange ties for the strands of hair that aren’t tucked in the hat like in the Linkle design. The only thing I didn’t like about the wig was that I couldn’t seem to get the left side’s hair in front of my elf ear without looking strange. The right side was fine, but one without the other looked even weirder. But this can totally suffice, or I can just figure out how to make it work later on; plus the bangs are long enough that they hide the ends of my ears anyway (which I will fasten correctly when the time comes. For these photos I just clipped them on with hair clips.. LOL) – You don’t need a cosplay to be completely or entirely accurate. Just do your best, and if you succeed in your own eyes, then you’re good to go!
